Why this bulletin?

Winter storm, Alexa, which is considered to be one of the strongest storms in decades, hit the occupied Palestinian territories on December 11 until December 14. Its wind velocity exceeded 80 km/hr. it was also featured with a prolific snowfall that reached more than two meters in some areas. Rain intensity has reached 27 centimeters, along with exceptional low temperatures. Water has flooded low areas in various parts of Gaza, which led 10,000 to evacuate their homes temporarily, as well as damages that affected 21,000 houses.

What actually has happened during the storm Alexa, invites us to think deliberately about this year, and to take into consideration how we could deal with the damages through preparations to face these kinds of dangers in case it happened again. One of the most important things to be taken into account is the readiness of schools to deal with the crisis to ensure the needed protection for our students in order to ensure the continuity of education process to our children under the most difficult situations.
Accordingly, we, at the education group, present this bulletin to workers in schools to provide them with tips and instructions to reduce the risks of natural disasters of rain and floods, to ensure the readiness on all levels to apply the best practices by all relevant sides, especially workers in schools including administration and education staff.
